Julietta Parra Ducote - Artistic Director
Is a native of Bogotá, Colombia and currently lives in Houston. Julietta has been involved for many years in the art of poetry. She is a published poet and her work has appeared in Illuminations, & ArtLies (Texas Art Journal). She contributes to articles pertaining to art reviews and flamenco dance programs.
Her major subjects of interest are the poetry and literature of Latin America, & Spain, as well as the dance, music and history of flamenco. Julietta has produced poetry readings and flamenco programs for the Society of Flamenco Arts and other nonprofit and cultural organizations. She is currently working on her book of poems. Julietta is the Spanish reader for our programs.

Laurie Nash
Inspired by her Mexican heritage, Laurie has danced her entired life. She started at an early age at the Bonnie Siscoe School of Dance where she begin her foundation in ballet. She has studied different dance disciplines such as jazz, tap dance & hip hop.
Her focus has been dancing and studying the Art of Flamenco for several years. She has had the privilege of taking workshops with master teachers such as Maria Serrano, Omayra Amaya, Antonio Vargas & others. Laurie has danced throughout Houston for jazz guitarist, Mark Towns & has performed at different venues. She is an accomplished dancer & brings her passion & artistic talent to our program of Lorca: Poetry and Dance.
Max Carman
Is a professor emeritus of geology and retired from the University of Houston in 1992. He has been married for 58 years, and has two grown children and two grandchildren. He first studied Spanish in high school and learned the beauty of the language and its poetry. Max has traveled the world and brings his passion for poetry to our program. He is our English reader for César Vallejo and Pablo Neruda.
Harold Deakin
Is a native of Manchester, England where he was born some 70 years ago. Harold is an engineer by profession, but also has a strong talent for the arts, particularly painting. He is our English reader for the "Festival of Latin American Poets".
Elsie C. Martinez
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia. One could say that Texas is Elsie's home state since it has been her residence for at least two thirds of her time in the USA. She started to write poetry many years before she began sharing it with an audience in Forth Worth Texas. Elsie's work is in Spanish & English. Elsie Martinez has done readings in a variety of venues ranging from the Kimbell Museum to bookstores. Houston is her new place of residence, and was our guest reader for the flamenco poetry of Rafael Alberti.
Guadalupe M. Méndez
Is a Houston writer and poet. Originally from Galveston, Texas, he has lived in Houston for the past decade and graduated from the University of St. Thomas were he received his BA in Bilingual Education. He teaches 5th grade science at Cunningham Elementary. During this time he joined Nuestra Palabra: Latinos Writers Having Their Say. He is a published poet and his name is included in the Houston International Poetry Anthology. Guadalupe is a performing poet and hopes to publish in Mexico. Our reader for Lorca: Poetry and Dance.
Pedro Luis Saldano
Is a Flamenco Gypsy from Argentina. Pedro brings his flamenco duende to our souls. His readings are in Spanish for the Anthology of Flamenco Poetry, Ruben Dario and Lorca.
Robert Weinberger
Is El Poeta Hungaro. He has been our reader for the English translations of Federico Garcia Lorca and Pablo Neruda. He brings to us his passion and beautiful melodic voice in our readings.

George Zombakis
Is our Greek Flamenco Gypsy. He is responsible for keeping us on non-gypsy time. He is our editor, mentor, flamenco critic and records our programs.
Chrissie and Macario Ramirez
I want to thank Macario and Chrissie Ramirez for generously allowing the Flamenco Poets Society to hold our readings in their gallery. Mr. & Mrs. Ramirez actively promote events that deal with Latin American Culture, and the Houston Community is grateful for this. Macario and Chrissie have created this wonderful classroom space within their gallery that used for numerous educational programs throughout the year.
Laurie Nash
